How might we leverage technology to enhance the connection between global artists and audiences, while fostering meaningful and engaging experiences?
How can technology help rebuild trust between digital artists and audiences when AI blurs authenticity and the creative process is often hidden
We learned that there is a gap in trust and transparency in the digital art community due to the growth of AI
Primary:
In our survey, 43% of participants couldn’t confidently tell human-made art from AI-generated work, showing a clear need for transparency and trust in digital art
Secondary:
Studies and online discussions reveal strong bias against AI art and growing concern from artists about their work being misjudged, devalued, or exploited without consent
We propose a platform that makes digital art explorable by capturing and sharing the creative process and turning it into a story you can trust and feel:
Capture and verify the creative process
Share as an interactive, story-driven journey
Build trust through transparent creation
Artists gain visibility through Trace’s discovery system, while audiences can easily explore the genres they care about most
Art lovers get a behind-the-scenes view of the creative process and can engage directly, reacting, suggesting edits, and commenting to connect with artists
Trace also tracks hotkeys, clicks, and action logs to verify authenticity, automatically labeling any AI-assisted work with a blue wand icon
Artists have profile pages designed for easy exposure, letting them export process clips to social media for effortless, impactful content creation
“Tools History” reveals which tools (and any AI) were used in the artwork, with direct links for audiences to download and explore them
This was a really fun (and exhausting) design hackathon I did with two friends. If I had to do it again, I’d 100% meal prep ahead of time
